Abstract

1275873 Nylonfilaments FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER AG 20 Jan 1970 [29 Jan 1969] 2614/70 Heading B5B A stretched nylon-6-filament has a monodinic structure, a Cu-K#-X-ray reflection widthmeasured in the half height of the equator reflection-of at least 2À35 degrees with an angular separation of the (200) to (020) reflections of 0À8 degrees and an infra-red extinction ratio E833/E1075 #0À13. Their production is illustrated in the Figure. The filaments 2, extruded from the spinning dies 1 are cooled in the blow-shaft 3 by a blast of air, collected by guide 4 and guided to meet the dressing rollers 5 where they are dressed with 0À4 to 0À8% by weight of a non-ionic dressing agent which is heat resistant at temperatures up to 220‹ C. They are then cold drawn by drawroller 6 which has an auxiliary roller or ceramic rods 7. The filaments are then stretched to from 2À5 to 5À5 times their original length between 6 and the stretching rollers 8a and 8b which are heated to 170‹ to 220‹ . The stretched filaments are passed at least three times around 8a and 8b to heat-set them before they are passed to the winding-spool 10 which runs at a speed 1% to 5% less than rollers 8a and 8b to allow for the relaxation after stretching and to provide a tension of between 0À02 to 0À08 g./dtex Alternatively a single heated roller and an auxiliary unheated roller may be used instead of the heated rollers.
