Abstract

1,272,993. Plate heat exchangers. STREBELWERK G.m.b.H. 13 May, 1969 [24 May, 1968], No. 24417/69. Heading F4S. A plate heat exchanger e.g. for boilers, comprises a fixed wall 2 and support plate 16 having rods or pins 6 ... 14 and 18 ... 28 respectively projecting in transverse rows and at right angles to the direction of flow of combustion gases a2 and the spacing between adjacent pins in the transverse rows being less than the distance between adjacent pins in each longitudinal row, e.g. 18, at right angles to the transverse rows. The plate 16 with its associated pins is removable from the exchanger in a direction parallel to the gas flow for cleaning purposes. In a modification, (Figs. 3 and 4) a removable plate having pins depending from both sides is mounted between two fixed plates having pins and in a further modification, (Figs. 5 and 6) two complete sets of pins on two fixed plates spacedly face each other in pairs, the space between every second pair of transverse rows being bridged by a removable partition.
