Class 64(3) Secondary heating surface extending between a pair of spaced plates 12 defining a fluid passage in a heat exchanger, comprises a plurality of elongated members, 10 each of I-shaped cross-section providing a pair of parallel flanges 15 connected by a perpendicular web, the outer faces of the flanges engaging the plates 12. Adjacent members 10 may abut, as shown, or they may be spaced apart parallel to one another. Individual members 10 may be built-up from a pair of channel members mounted back to back and bonded to one another and to the plates 12.
