Abstract
1,009,973. Heat exchange tube-elements. YGNIS S.A. Feb. 22, 1963 [Feb. 26, 1962], No. 7311/62. Heading F4S. A heat transfer element 1, for insertion in a boiler flue 3, through which pass combustion gases, comprises at least one smooth platelike member, which may be flat and which may be made of sheet metal, having apertures 8, therein, either dispersed throughout the plate area or arranged in groups, the smallest dimension of each aperture being at least 1 mm. and the number of apertures being 5,000-200,000 or more per square meter. The element may be cruciform-shaped (as shown in Fig. 1), or star-shaped in cross-section or it may be formed by two plates as shown in Fig. 3. The element may extend substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the conduit. The apertures may be circular, rectangular or oval, and when they are arranged in groups, the apertures in any one group are the same size, but the apertures in the group near the gas inlet end of the conduit are smaller in area than those of subsequent groups.
