544,635. Ventilators. DAVIES, L. G. Jan. 30, 1941, No. 367/42. Divided out of 544,992. [Class 137] A ventilator which prevents the passage of light while admitting air consists of two piles of baffle elements 8 of V, U, Y or similar shape, and in spaced relationship, a clear passage 50 being provided between the piles which are enclosed in a frame 2, the baffles in one pile being inverted with respect to the baffles in the other so that the air can pass from between the baffles in one pile without substantial change of direction of flow into the spaces in the other pile A filtering element 52 can be accommodated between the piles, and may be slid out through an opening 56 for cleaning, or a solid slide may be used to regulate the amount of air passing through the ventilator. Each of the baffles has a pair of lugs 58 which locate and support the next baffle in the pile so that the baffles are selfsupporting and are held in position by the end plates 62. A slot 65 as in Fig. 4A may be provided in the angle of the V to drain off water. In modifications, the baffles may be formed of elements each comprising two relatively inverted V-shaped baffles joined by a connecting piece, or the baffles may be stamped out of sheets which are placed back to back.
