Abstract
696,380. Tubular heat-exchange elements. JUNKERS & CO. GES. Nov. 23, 1950 [Nov. 25, 1949], No. 28611/50. Class 64 (iii) In heat-exchange apparatus, e.g. a gas-heated water heater, having at least two tube lengths 2 passing through a series of parallel plates, each plate has pressed-out tubular flanges 12 to fit the tube lengths rigidly and has a plurality of pressed out portions 14 or 18, some disposed between adjacent tube lengths and each with an edge facing the flow stream, the arrangement being such that the flow stream between any two plates is divided at each pressed-out portion in such a way that at least part of the stream continues on between the same plates. Each pressed-out portion may be formed above a single horizontal slit, as shown in Fig. 3, so that part of the flow stream is diverted to the other side of the plate, or between two horizontal slits as shown in Fig. 8, so that both parts of the flow stream continue between the same plates. A horizontal rib 17, staggered from plate to plate, is formed in each plate above the pressed-out portions 14 or 18. The plates may be corrugated along their bottom edges.
