Abstract
996,211. Heat exchangers. COMMISARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. March 15, 1962 [March 16, 1962], No. 10015/62. Heading F4S. [Also in Division G6] Groups of parallel fins 2 project normally from a heat exchanger wall 1, all the fins extending at an angle to the general direction 6 of flow of a fluid passing over the wall, and the fins of adjacent groups together forming a chevron pattern, flow channels being formed between adjacent fins in a group, and the fins at their upstream and/or downstream ends being curved so as to cause a progressive change in the direction of flow of fluid as it enters and/or leaves a channel. The individual fins are preferably tapered in the direction away from the wall surface (Fig. 2, not shown).
