Abstract
1,271,904. Gangways. FREDRIKSSTAD MEK VERKSTED AS. 17 June, 1970 [20 June, 1969], No. 29416/70. Heading B7J. [Also in Division E1] A ship's gangway 14 is pivotally suspended from a platform 18, 36 which is itself pivotally mounted on a carriage 20 movable up and down the hull on rails 26, 28, a door 30 or port being provided in the hull for access purposes. The upper portion 36 of the platform is mounted on a base 18 via a vertical pivot 38, and the platform/carriage angle can be adjusted by screw 60 operating on links 50, 52 via a shaft 48 mounted between plates 44, 46 of a lever 42. At the top of the rails 26, 28 the platform and carriage are collapsed by the engagement of an extension 70 or 72 on each link with a roller 74, the upper casters 25 of the carriage being located in inwardly-directed portions 62 of the rails whilst the lower casters 24 are allowed to move away from the rails via notches in the rails, Fig. 8 (not shown).
