Abstract

1,270,207. Jib cranes. MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO K.K. 10 Nov., 1970 [15 May, 1970], No. 53503/70. Heading B8B. A twin-type crane comprises a common mount 1 mounted for slewing on a base 3 of a ship and carrying a pair of jibs 4, 4<SP>1</SP> similarly mounted. The jib 4, e.g. is mounted for luffing on a post 2 and is slewed on a bearing 12. As shown in Fig. 1 the jibs 4, 4<SP>1</SP> are operable independently, the mount 1 being locked. For operation as a twin crane the jibs 4, 4<SP>1</SP> are brought into parallelism, Fig. 3, and their respective luffing winches 5, 5<SP>1</SP> and load winding winches 8, 8<SP>1</SP> respectively operated in synchronism by connecting clutches 17, 17<SP>1</SP>. The twin jibs 4, 4<SP>1</SP> in this mode are slewed by use of the mount 1. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the jibs 4, 4<SP>1</SP> are luffed by hydraulic cylinders (22), (22<SP>1</SP>) operated either in parallel or in series for independent or synchronized working of the jibs 4, 4<SP>1</SP>.
