The hoist winch 9 of a crane for mounting on a freight carrying vehicle is mounted within the slewing jib 4 and is driven directly by an oil-motor 10 on the outside of the jib. As illustrated the jib 4 is pivoted at 5 to a hydraulically slewed column 3 and is luffed by a hydraulic ram 6. ______
