Abstract
1,265,422. Washing machine detergent dispensers. INDUSTRIE A. ZANUSSI S.p.A. 24 April, 1970 [17 May, 1969], No. 19887/70. Heading D1A. A detergent dispenser comprises a casing connected to a washing machine tub and partitioned into a plurality of compartments A, B, C and D for prewash and wash detergents, bleach and size; a plate 30 above the casing with channels 26, 27, 28, 29 for supplying the compartments with water from respective openings 22, 23, 24 and 25 in. an open-ended housing 6 containing a piston with one open end communicating with a side opening which aligns with the openings 22 to 25 successively on rotation of a camshaft 39 of a programmer; and a nozzle 21 connected to a water-feed duct 8 and arranged coaxially with but spaced from the open end of the piston to direct water therein. The compartments are preferably provided in a drawer 20 which is slidable from the front of the machine for loading. Alternatively the plate 30 and a transparent lid 1 are removable for loading. Water for the detergent compartments A and B passes respectively through the channels 26 and 27 into compartments a and b in the plate 30, and thence through slots 31 to wash the detergent out of the compartment and, through an opening 5 in the casing, into the tub. To avoid splashing bleach, water enters the compartment C through holes 32 of a circular compartment c and leaves it through a siphon tube 10 and a passage 16 (Fig. 7). To provide turbulence to mix the size with the water a single opening 11 is provided into the compartment D, a second siphon tube 9 comprising the exit from this compartment.
