Abstract

1,262,337. Regenerative coke ovens. DIDIERWERKE A.G. 10 April, 1969 [10 April, 1968], No. 18398/69. Heading F4B. In a regenerative coke oven provided with high and low level firing points in heating flues (4, Fig. 1A) which are arranged in groups having two or four flues, the regenerator is divided by partitions 14 into sections 15-19, each corresponding to an associated group of flues. A longitudinal wall 20 divides each regenerator chamber 13 into two compartments 21 and 22 which are connected by channels 11, 12 to the low and high level firing openings 7 and 8 respectively. Floor channels 24-28 communicating with the regenerator sections 15-19 are each subdivided by partitions 23 into bottom conduits having openings 29, 30. The flow cross-section of the openings 29, 30 for each regenerator section can be varied to provide independent control for the supply and discharge of gaseous media (air, lean gas and combustion gases) to and from each group of heating flues. A rich gas nozzle 10 is disposed in the centre of each heating flue. In a modified embodiment (Figs. 4-7, not shown), each heating flue is provided with a high-level firing opening (31), intermediate-level opening (32) and two bottom openings (33 and 34). By suitably regulating the flow cross-sections the gas/air ratio supplied to each level of firing openings can be independently controlled.
