Abstract

The invention relates to an ignition system for burners wherein the ignition spark gap e 1 , e 2 is connected to the secondary winding of a transformer T 1 , the primary winding of which is connected to a capacitor C which can be discharged through the primary winding through a thyristor or other controlled rectifier Th 1 . Charging of the capacitor and application of a striking voltage to the control electrode of the rectifier to discharge the capacitor is effected by respective connection of the capacitor and of the control electrode to an alternating current source only through respective resistors R 1 , R 2 .
