Abstract
1,254,886. Tower cranes. BICHIER S.A. 3 Jan., 1969, No. 610/69. Heading B8B. A tower crane comprises a distributing jib 23 pivotally mounted at the upper end of a tower 22, a lifting saddle 24 reciprocable along the jib 23 by a winch 31 and a rope 29 passing over a pulley 31a, both ends of the rope 29 being attached to the saddle 24. A hook 13 is suspended by a swivel connection 14 from a lifting rope 12 which passes over return pulley 15 on the saddle 24 and is wound on the drum of a lifting winch 25, previously passing over pulley 28 and a pulley 26 mounted on a mobile unit 27. One end of a rope 32 is anchored to the saddle 24 at 32a and the other end is fixed at 32b after passing over a pulley 33 and a.pulley 34 carried by the mobile unit 27. The arrangement is such that movement of the saddle 24 along the jib 23 is compensated by movement of the mobile unit 27 so that the length of rope between the winch 25 and the saddle 24 is mainained constant and the load remains at the same height. In a modification, Figs. 4, 6 (not shown), the load hook is suspended on swivels at the ends of two load ropes, movement of the saddle being compensated in a similar manner to that described above.
