A wrench has a member 26 carrying additional jaws of different thicknesses arranged on the body of the wrench so that the member may be movable along an arc to positions where it reduces the operative distance between faces 22 and 24. A depressed portion 68 slides in a groove 36 and a spring arm 44 has a terminal end portion engageable in apertures 70, 72 or 74. The arm 44 fits into an inclined groove in the wrench and has a groove 52 to ensure a continuous groove 36. The member 26 is removable from the wrench. In a modification the member is positioned by a pin engaging one of a number of apertures in the member 26 and one or two holes in the wrench located where the ends of groove 36 of the first embodiment lie.
