Class 61 A tool for temporarily holding a nut comprises a strip of metal 10 having an upstanding lug 15, an upstanding lug 14 being provided on a manipulable slide 13 engaging a longitudinal slot 11 in the strip, the slide being urged towards the rear end of the slot by a a tension spring 17 and the two lugs constituting a. pair of.. nut gripping jaws acting outwardly from one another on the screw-threaded bore of a nut 22. The outer side of the fixed jaw 15 has a lip 23 which engages a single thread, the movable jaw 14 being arcuate in section. The slide is retained in the slot by an upper member 19 and a lower member (not shown) of greater width than the slot secured adjacent the rear end.thereof by a pin 16.
