Abstract

1,244,751. Loud-speakers. G. F. MATTHEWS. 5 June, 1969 [7 March, 1968], No. 11164/68. Headings H4J and H4X. A loud-speaker assembly (Figs. 1, 3) has two identical cabinet units 1, 2 or 11, 12 each housing one or more loud-speakers. The loudspeakers are mounted behind front faces 4 or 14. The units 1, 2 or 11, 12 are hinged at 3 or 13 so that they may be pivoted from a closed position where the front faces 4 or 14 confront to an open position exceeding 180 degrees. The open position angle is preferably about 270 degrees so that sound is dispersed in two mutually perpendicular directions. A horn-loaded loudspeaker (Fig. 7, not shown) may be attached to each cabinet unit by a gimbal mounting providing for tilting and swivelling in horizontal and vertical planes.
