Abstract

1,242,572. Fibrous laminates. CHARLES TURNER & CO. Ltd. 14 March, 1969 [10 May, 1968; 1 Oct., 1968], Nos. 22340/68 and 13046/69. Heading B5N. A laminate comprises at least one preformed non-woven thermoplastics-bonded fibre layer having creped soft paper tissue or cellulosic wadding surface-bonded to each face by heating the thermoplastic material. The fibre layer may be a fleece of parallel or randomly-oriented viscose rayon fibres. The binder may be applied as an impregnant or coating in amount 28-32 wt. per cent of the bonded web and may be polyethylene, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl chloride, vinyl chloride copolymers or acrylic resin (e.g. in the form of emulsions and dispersions containing particles); cross-linking agents, plasticizers, wetting agents and wet-strengthening agents may be included. The tissue or wadding may include wet-strengthening agent. The laminate may be made by bonding continuous webs of material between heated rollers.
