Abstract

1,242,566. Laminated ribbed packaging material. SANDVIKENS JERNVERKS A.B. 18 Dec., 1968 [19 Dec., 1967], No. 60100/68. Heading B5N. [Also in Division B8] Laminated packaging material comprises, sandwiched between two flexible continuous layers, a layer of spaced parallel longitudinallyextending ribs each comprising a row of consecutive shorter ribs, the joints between said shorter ribs being in different longitudinal positions in adjacent rows. The ribs may comprise wood fibre board, wood or plastics. One covering layer may comprise nylon not bonded between two crepe paper layers, while the other may comprise crepe paper bonded to an outer jute fabric layer; the coverings may also be of paper, cloth or plastics. The laminate may be made by supplying webs of covering material from supply rolls, applying glue thereto and mechanically feeding the ribs on to the lower sheet, the assembled material being pressed between rolls. Consecutive shorter ribs may or may not be abutting.
