[Also in Division El] A laminated material suitable for covering roofs &c. with the aid of molten bitumen or bituminous emulsion comprises a fabric of open weave and a foraminated sheet of bitumencoated cardboard or paper, crimped paper, asbestos felt, cloth, with or without a bitumen coating, or a plastics or elastomeric material. The holes in the sheet may be of circular, oval or other shape, of 1-25 mm. diameter, and may extend over the whole sheet or be arranged in spaced groups of rows. The open-weave fabric may be of glass fibre, of vegetable, animal or artificial or synthetic single or multifilament yarns (e.g. of polyamide, vinyl or polythene), or of mixed yarns, and may also be perforated. Several layers of fabric may be provided on one or both sides of the foraminated sheet. The layers may be adhered together with a bituminous and/or plastics (polyvinyl acetate or polystyrene) adhesive in organic solution, or with a rubber-resin-bitumen-emulsion, and the adhesive may be applied only to the parts of the laminate which have no perforations. For lateral joining of the laminated sheets during laying the fabric layer may extend beyond the foraminated layer along one edge, or edges may be left free of adhesive and adjacent edges may be interleaved, such edges may have perforations out of register or in greater numbers than the sheet themselves. Edges may also have one or more rows of wales to facilitate registration or edges to be overlapped may be differently coloured.
