994,952. Laminates and laminating. RIEGEL TEXTILE CORPORATION. July 25, 1963, No. 29582/63. Drawings to Specification. Heading B5N. An air-permeable, flexible sheet material suitable for garments comprises at least two airpermeable layers, at least one being a textile fabric, the layers being bonded together by spaced spots of thixotropic heat-curable adhesive which penetrate into the layers. The textile fabric may be woven, knitted or non-woven and may be e.g. of cotton; the adjacent layer may be of foam e.g. polyurethane. Textile layers may be applied to both sides of a foam layer. Continuous webs may be united by applying to the surface of one of them a pattern of adhesive spots by means of a perforated hollow drum and doctor blade and passing the webs between rollers followed by an oven to cure the adhesive. A bonding material formulation consists of an acrylic polymer latex, a melamine resin and ammonia.
