Abstract

1,162,147. Laminated textile materials. CARL FREUDENBERG. 14 Oct., 1966 [16 Oct., 1965], No. 46021/66. Heading B5N. [Also in Division B2] A laminate comprises a textile fabric adhered under heat and pressure to a fusible interlining which comprises a textile sheet material having on at least one surface a coating of discrete spots of foamed thermoplastic binder substantially entirely on the surface only of the material. The interlining may be made by applying spots of a foamed or heat-foamable paste of the binder to the surface of the material without substantial penetration of the binder into the material and then heating in order to foam the binder, if the binder was foamable before the heating and in order to cure the binder. Foamed paste or unfoamed paste containing a blowing agent may be printed on to the material. The binder may be polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polyurethane, polypropylene, or a low-molecular weight linear polyester. The sheet material may be a woven, knitted or non-woven fabric of any suitable material such as polyamide, e.g. a fleece impregnated with a rubber latex, or a polyacrylic binder, generally in foam form. The discrete spots may be applied to both surfaces of the sheet material.
