A hook 10 for use with a complementary eye member (not shown) is formed from sheet metal and is fastened to garment material by inserting two pairs of prongs 14 through the material and then through apertures 21 of a backing plate 20 underlying the material, the prongs then being clenched over to lie in channels 22.
