Abstract

1398477 Belts SCOVILL MFG CO 14 June 1973 [15 June 1972] 28278/73 Heading A3V [Also in Division E2] A fastener element for a waistband comprises a sheet metal hook, generally of J-shape and consisting of a staple-like leg having a planar bridge member 14 provided at the opposite ends thereof with depending, flat, impaling points 16, 18, an inclined, flat bight member 20 extending out at substantially a right angle from one end of the bridge member, and a flat, cantilevered hooking leg 22 extending from the bight member in spaced, parallel relation to the bridge member and in the direction of the other end of the bridge member. As shown, the points 16, 18 are clinched about an anchor plate 24 to lie in notches 28 and a depression formed by a ridge 26 in the plate. The free end of the leg 22 is rounded and tapered in thickness.
