[Also in Division C7] Producing semi-manufactured products from age-hardenable Cu base alloys containing Cr and/or Zr (e.g. Cu Zr 0À01-5%), by solution treating the alloys (e.g. at 700-1000‹C.) in the cast state, isothermally working them at the solution temperature and then immediately quenching. The quenched semi-finished body may then be aged, cold worked and aged with an optional final cold working step. In an example the working is accomplished by extruding from a die, the heating being by induction and the extrudate being immediately quenched in water.
