Abstract

A product having fine equiaxed grains is produced by introducing a molten alloy of .Be.1.65-1.75% .Co.0.2-0.4% .Cu.the remainder, at a temperature of 1875 DEG F. into a heated die chamber, closing the chamber with a heated die plug and subjecting the molten alloy to a pressure of not less than 14000 p.s.i. for at least 3 minutes. The alloy may include Fe and Ni such that Co + Fe + Ni = 0.25-0.65%. The billet so formed may be extruded and/or may be solution annealed at 1500-1525 DEG F. for 3 hours, water quenched and aged at 650-675 DEG F. for 3 hours,
