Abstract

1,233,002. Supplying secondary air to solid fuel fire furnaces. COVENTRY CORP. CITY OF. 4 July, 1968 [8 April, 1967], No. 16209/67. Heading F4B. Secondary air is supplied by a fan above the retort 1 of an under-fed boiler furnace through a nozzle 5 directing air into the fuel 4 in the general direction of the flue gas flow. The nozzle 5 may be elongated, to spread the air over the retort, and may be carried by the furnace door. The air supply pipe to the nozzle may run within the fire-box to preheat the combustion air. The fan supplying the secondary air is linked to the stoker 3 so that it is switched off at a set interval after the stoker stops and switches on at the same time as the stoker restarts.
