Abstract

In an animal water-feeding apparatus, a trough 14 having formed integrally therewith two upstanding lugs 15, is pivotally mounted, by way of the lugs, upon a bracket 16 secured to a horizontally extending water pipe 10, the pipe having downwardly depending therefrom a duct 11 within the lower extremity of which there is a gravity-operated valve member 12. In operation, and in the absence of sufficient water in the trough, a counterweight 18 pivots the trough in a clockwise direction as a result of which a ledge 19, secured to the trough, engages valve member stem 13 and so opens the valve. An increase in the weight of water in the trough tends to pivot the trough in an anticlockwise direction so resulting in closure of the valve 12. In a modification, the counterweight 18 may be replaced by a spring extending between the receptacle and the pipe.
