Abstract
1,226,585. Cooling I.C. engines. VAUXHALL MOTORS Ltd. 11 Sept., 1969 [19 Sept., 1968], No. 44680/68. Heading F4U. A motor vehicle engine cooler system comprising a radiator 1, engine cooler jacket 4 and a water pump 5 has a thermostat 7 arranged in a mixing chamber 8 which operates to allow circulation of the coolant through the radiator upon a predetermined temperature being attained and which when closed has coolant directed thereagainst from a standpipe 13 which forms a limited by-pass passage from the water pump 5. A by-pass return passage 14 extends from the chamber 8 to the pump inlet to allow coolant circulation through the jacket when the thermostat prevents flow through the radiator. A heater circuit 9 . . . 12 is connected to the engine cooler system.
