Abstract

122,488. Winton, A. Jan. 25, 1918 Valve-gear.-In multi-cylinder internal-combustion engines, comprising an even number of cylinders, preferably six, the cam-shaft 89 carries cams operating the valves through rocker-arms 98, wear between the arms and cams being taken up by guided springs 101. The cam-shaft is mounted in bearings in a trough 84, which is built up in sections. There is one trough section for each pair of cylinders, and each section has a bearing for the shaft at each end and at the centre. The trough sections are formed with brackets 65 which are secured to bosses in the cylinders.
