Abstract

1,222,690. Converter hoods. SOC. LORRAINE DE LAMINAGE CONTINU. 26 Sept., 1968 [28 Sept., 1967], No. 45846/68. Heading F4J. A hollow water-cooled hood 2, for use with a rotary metallurgical converter, is provided with an independently cooled front annular member 1, formed from four hollow elements 3, 4, 5, 6, the element 6 defining a spout 6a, for removal of metal or slag splashes from inside the hood. The elements are supplied with coolant from header 10 and inlet pipes 8 and discharge to outlet pipes 7 and collector header 11. Wear linings 9 are provided on the front face of each element.
