Abstract
1459591 Gas turbine combustion chamber GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 14 Feb 1974 [26 Feb 1973] 6699/74 Heading F1L An annular combustion chamber 22 for a gas turbine engine is defined between outer and inner lines 20, (18), Fig. 1 (not shown), in an annular casing 10, and is closed at its upstream end by a dome member 32, outer and inner snout members 44, (46) defining an inlet plenum chamber 50 from which cooling air is directed on to the inner surfaces 82 of the upstream end of the liners 20, (18). As shown, the snout member 44 is welded at 72 to liner 20 and is bolted to a support ring 42 having a corrugated lip 62 welded or brazed to dome member 32. Cooling air passages 78, (76), Fig. 3, (not shown), are defined between the corrugated lip 62 and the snout member 44 and dome member 32 respectively, and extend from the plenum chamber 50 to the inner surface 82 via dimples 52 in ring 42, or directly respectively. Again, Figs. 7 to 10 (not shown), the inner snout member (46), inner support ring (40), and an extension of the liner (18) may be bolted together. The support ring (40) and liner extension may define a continuous annular cooling chamber (110) therebetween and the dimples be eliminated.
