Abstract
1,146,825. Metallurgical converters. VEREINIGTE OSTERREICHISCHE EISENUND STAHLWERKE A.G. 20 April, 1966 [21 April, 1965], No. 17283/66. Heading F4B. A trunnion ring 1, for a metallurgical converter, comprises upper and lower booms 2 and 3, respectively, which, by virtue of semicircular apertures 5 provided along their inner edges, are intermittently welded to a ring wall portion 4 which is weld-incorporated in the converter wall and is cooled by air circulating through the apertures 5. Spacing sleeves and bolts (9, 10, Fig. 2, not shown), extending between flanges 6, (7) welded to adjacent sections of the trunnion ring, are used for holding the sections in place prior to welding. A plate 11, disposed opposite the flanges, completes the box-like trunnion ring.
