Abstract
1,266,027. Blowing lances. COMBINATUL SIDERURGIC HUNEDOARA. 7 May, 1969 [20 June, 1968], No. 23310/69. Heading F4B. A water cooled lance head for blowing oxygen into a molten metal bath while suitably immersed therein includes an outer copper jacket 1 constructed with its bottom wall thicker than its side walls. Water coolant enters the head through a central steel conduit 3. Oxygen fed to copper pipes 2 leaves the head through orifices b in the bottom wall which is formed with a central inwardly directed conical portion a for directing the coolant leaving the conduit 3. The lance head is welded to a lance body, Fig. 4, which comprises three concentric steel tubes 4, 5 and 6 provided with respective connections for the inlet of coolant, inlet of oxygen and the inlet of oxygen.
