Abstract

1,221,928. Trays; packages. ALLEN DAVIES & CO. Ltd. 26 Feb., 1968 [24 Feb., 1967; 7 Sept., 1967], Nos. 9003/67 and 40889/67. Headings B8C and B8P. A blank for trays, e.g. of cardboard, has a substantially rectangular base 1 and side walls 2, 4, which are connected to the base 1 over their whole lengths by respective fold lines 3, 5, while substantially triangular holes 9 define a free inner edge of corner portions 6 which connect adjacent side and end wall panels 2, 4. Scorelines 20, 13 fold in opposite directions so that upon erection of the blank the corner portions 6 are folded on themselves and are attached to the outside surface of the side wall 2 by, e.g., adhesive or adhesive tape. In a modification, the side wall 2 has an extended central portion, Fig. 4 (not shown), to protect the articles when erected. The side walls may be inclined. The tra y may be used as a package when filled with articles by enclosing in a heat shrinkable material. Trays may be provided for both the tops and bottoms of the articles.
