Abstract

1,220,790. Knitting-machines. VYZKUMNY USTAV PLETARSKY. 13 June, 1969 [27 June, 1968], No. 30022/69. Heading D1C. A yarn tensioning device situated between the bobbin supply and the yarn guide of the machine comprises a cylinder 1 housing a piston 5 having an eyelet through which the yarn passes in order to support the piston. A device 4 creates a vacuum in the lower end of the cylinder to influence the piston 5 and thereby affect the tension in the yarn. A valve 3 may serve to vary the effect of the device 4. The yarn in passage through the tensioning device passes between tensioning discs 10 and over guiding surfaces 8 on the upper end of the cylinder. A guide rod 12 hooked on the end of the cylinder engages a vertical groove in the piston to guide the latter and is provided with a turned in end 14 to act as a stop.
