Abstract

In domestic and industrial circular and flat bed knitting machine the movement of the piano wire thread guide(s) is used to give a wide variation to the tension on the yarn. The initial inclination of the wire is adjustable by hand, and the wire turns a cam as the pull on the yarn draws down the eye so as to depress the tappet rod of a spring loaded disc tensioning arrangement of the type used in sewing machines, letting off the load on the thread as necessary.
