Abstract

1,220,227. Silver salt diffusion transfer processes. W. ZINDLER [trading as LUMOPRINT ZINDLER K.G.J. Jan.26, 1968 [Feb. 10, 1967), No.4209/68. Heading G2C. A silver salt diffusion transfer process in which a silver halide emulsion with a water-permeable cover layer is imagewise exposed and developed and is treated with a silver halide solvent to produce a silver halide complex and contacted with an uncoated paper, felt or textile receiving sheet wetted with an acidic or alkaline solution containing a stannous salt which is capable of reducing silver halide complexes and thus producing a positive image on the receiving material and removing the receiving material from the water-permeable layer which remains on the emulsion. Alternatively the two solutions may be combined when alkaline and the two materials wetted with the combined solution. The stannous salt specified is stannous chloride and this solution may contain metallic tin, ascorbic acid or hydroquinone. Normally the developer is contained in the cover layer and an alkaline solution containing a silver halide solvent is used for development of the latent silver image.
