Compression engines. -In an engine having radial cylinders in two or more parallel planes, and in which corresponding cylinders in adjacent parallel planes are disposed in a common radial plane, firing occurs simultaneously in a pair of cylinders located in two parallel planes and making with one another an angle of 180 degrees or an angle approximating to 180 degrees. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, four cylinders are located in each of four parallel planes opposite cylinders e.g. a<1>, b<1> firing simultaneously. According to a modified construction, nine cylinders are located in each of the planes, and firing occurs simultaneously in cylinders making with one another an angle of 160 degrees.
