Four-stroke-cycle engines; cylinders, arrangement of ports in.-In an air-cooled engine with revolving cylinders the inlet and exhaust valves are arranged in inclined positions in the cylinder heads. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 3, in which there are two inlet valves c and two exhaust valves d, the exhaust valves are disposed on the leading side of the cylinder. According to a modification in which there are three valves, the inlet valve is arranged between and behind a pair of exhaust valves. The invention is described in connexion with an engine having eighteen staggered cylinders in two parallel planes. According to the Provisional Specification, one exhaust and two inlet valves may be used.
