Abstract
1,217,613. Scouring wool. VEPA A.G. 20 Feb., 1968 [14 April, 1967], No. 8155/68. Heading D1L. Floating raw wool 7 is scoured with liquid 3 in a container 2 by passage under a sieve drum (Fig. 1) or (as shown) under a downwardly inclined liquid-permeable conveyor belt having a perforated roll which sucks liquid in at one side and discharges it at the other, the wool being discharged from an outlet device from within which liquid passes to a vessel 14 and is then pumped back to the inlet end of the container via a perforated wall 17. The outlet device may comprise an upwardly inclined liquid permeable conveyor belt, above which the wool passes, followed by a pair of squeeze rolls (Fig. 1), a sieve drum, below which the wool passes, followed by a pair of squeeze rolls (Fig. 3), or (as shown) a sieve drum containing a weir 21 and surmounted by a squeeze roll 15.
