Axle and like distance members and torquerods.-In a vehicle in which the universal joint in the transmission shaft is resiliently supported so as to be movable laterally to absorb road shocks, the rear axle casing 6 is connected by pivoted rods 8 to members 11 carried in brackets 7 fixed to the main frame. The members 11 are fitted with spherical heads bearing in members 13 resiliently mounted in recesses in a supporting member 5 to which the torque tube 3 is pivoted by means of a fork 25. The rear springs 9 are fixed to brackets 18' and are connected to the rear axle by shackles. In a modification, the rods 8 are dispensed with; the springs 9 are rigidly connected with the rear axle, are mounted on brackets carried by the members 11, and are extended forwardly, the front ends being shackled to the frame.
