Abstract
1,215,824. Sawing. ROWCO MFG. CO. Inc. 15 Feb., 1968 [24 April, 1967], No. 7393/68. Heading B5L. A power tool arrangement comprises a chain saw engine 10 and a brush-cutter arrangement 50 consisting essentially of an elongated tubular member 52 having an operating instrumentality 58 at one end and means 66 mounting the attachment upon the chain saw engine, the engine having removed therefrom its chain saw operating instrumentality 12 and clutch engaging member 14, and a substitute clutch engaging member 40 mounted upon the chain saw engine and transmitting power from the engine to the bandcutter attachment. The engine 10 has a pair of studs 18, 20 on which the chain saw bar 12 is normally mounted but is removed to receive a plate 66 on a housing 60 of the brushcutting attachment. The clutch drum 14 for driving the chain saw is also removed and the clutch member 40 fitted in its place. The member, which is frictionally driven by shoes 22, 24 of the clutch 16 has orifices 42 engaged by studs 64 on a plate 62 rotatably mounted in the housing 60 which is connected to the tubular member 52. A shaft 56 is rotatable in the member 52 and, at one end, secured to the plate 62 and, at the other end, connected by gearing in a housing 54 to a circular saw 58.
