1,215,615. Finishing fabrics. H. KRANTZ VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. 26 Aug., 1968 [13 Sept., 1967], No. 40656/68. Heading D1S. A device for pressing and heat-treating textile webs comprises a pair of spaced-apart axially parallel drums 6, 8 around which is driven an endless belt 9, there being located between the two drums in the space bounded by the upper and lower runs of belt 9 a pair of struts 11, 12 each in a plane parallel to, but at an angle of 45‹ with the drum axes, one of which struts 11 acts as guide to stear incoming web material 13 into the spandrel between the belt 9 and drum 6 and the other strut 11 guiding material received from between drum 8 and belt 9 out of the device along a path parallel to that of its initial feed. Infra-red heaters 19 are located around the periphery of the drums and the upper run of the belt. Spray nozzles 16 are located between strut 12 and drum 6 to moisten a web 13 before treatment and cooling nozzles 21 are located between drum 8 and strut 11. It is 'stated that a plurality of such devices can be located in parallel. The endless belt 9 is preferably metal and can withstand tensions of 1 ton/cm, of belt width.
