A Bean-magnification system for magnifying the Y deflection is disposed between the Y- deflection means 2, Fig. 6, and the X-deflection means 1, and comprises a metal mesh 9 disposed between two cylindrical electrodes 10. Preferably the electrode 9 is at a lower potential than that of electrodes 10, and its potential may be varied to adjust the magnification.
