A refrigerant evaporator comprises a coil 2 having its outlet end 7 connected to an accumulator 3, the suction line 5 is connected to the accumulator and the refrigerant metering supply pipe 4 extends through at least the major portion of the length of the suction line and through the accumulator to the inlet 6 of coil 2.
