Abstract
1,036,371. Refrigerating. DENCO MILLER Ltd. July 10, 1962 [July 10, 1961], No. 24915/61. Heading F4H. A liquid trap accommodated in the suction line of a compression refrigeration system comprises a trough 11 of a size sufficient to contain the whole of the refrigerant charge in liquid form, a plurality of heating tubes 14 extending through the lower portion of the trough between inlet and outlet headers 12a, 13a for the compressor discharge, a passage 17 forming part of the suction line extending over the top of the trough, an aperture 16 communicating the trough with the passage and a baffle 22 disposed in the aperture for separating liquid and vapour entering the trap. A packing 20 of wire or gauze is provided in passage 17 upstream of aperture 16. The trap may be used in the system described in Specification 934,490.
