Abstract
1512507 Separating oil from compressor discharge HOWDEN COMPRESSORS Ltd 28 April 1975 [23 March 1974(2)] 13024/74 and 13026/74 Heading F1N [Also in Divison F4] In a refrigeration system comprising a screw compressor 1, a condenser 17 and an evaporator, an oil separator is provided downstream of the compressor. The system includes means for returning either liquid refrigerant (see Fig. 3) or cooled oil from the reservoir 10 to a spray device 12 located in the duct 6, 7 leading from the compressor, in order to reduce the temperature in the duct 6, 7 to condense any oil vapour. The oil separator 8 includes an arcuate baffle 9 and a filter pack 11. A thermostatic control valve 14 is also provided in Fig. 3 to control the flow of refrigerant to the spray head 12 in response to the temperature in duct 7.
