Abstract

1,214,650. Refrigerating. AMERICAN AIR FILTER CO. Inc. 11 Dec., 1967, No. 56240/67. Heading F4H. The cooling capacity of a refrigeration system is regulated by passing hot gaseous refrigerant from the outlet of the compressor 1 directly to the evaporator 8 downstream of the expanded refrigerant inlet, where it mixes with the refrigerant supplied by the expansion device 7, under the control of a valve 12 responsive to the temperature of the fluid cooled by the evaporator. Two condensers 3, 4 are provided in parallel, the flow of refrigerant to condenser 4 being controlled by a valve 17 in response to the compressor discharge pressure. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown) the evaporator comprises upper and lower headers connected by vertical tubes, the compressed and expanded refrigerant streams being injected into the upper header.
