Abstract

934,490. Refrigerating. DENCO MILLER Ltd. Nov. 3, 1960 [Nov. 20, 1959; Feb. 17, 1960], Nos. 39478/59 and 5668/60. Class 29. In a compression refrigerating system a heat exchange vessel 6 large enough to hold all of the refrigerant charge in liquid form and heated at its lower portion by the compressor discharge is included in the suction line. The vessel 6 ineludes a perforated baffle 8 (Fig. 2) which prevents refrigerant vapour entering the vessel from the evaporator 3 from coming into contact with the compressor outlet line 7, which is coiled within the lower portion of the vessel, while allowing liquid refrigerant from the evaporator to contact and be evaporated by said coils. For defrosting the evaporator 3 the expansion valve 5 is provided with a by-pass line controlled by a solenoid valve 13 which is opened when necessary to supply liquid refrigerant to the evaporator, this liquid refrigerant being evaporated in the vessel 6. The refrigerating circuit also includes a liquid reservoir 4 and a small bore oil return line 10 leading from the bottom of the vessel 6 to the compressor.
